If you’re using Android 15 with the Private Space feature enabled, Google is aware of certain issues when using a paired Wear OS smartwatch.
In a support document, Google explains that notifications from Private Space apps on your phone might appear on your Wear OS device, even though Private Space notifications are meant to stay only on your phone. Additionally, media controls for these apps won’t show up on the smartwatch.
Here are the details:
- Unexpected Notifications: On some devices from specific manufacturers, Private Space notifications may still appear on your smartwatch if Private Space is unlocked on your phone. These notifications might display a work profile icon, which is usually used to indicate notifications related to enterprise settings.
- Work Profile Confusion: Work Profile, which separates work-related apps from personal apps, has a similar icon but is a distinct feature. Google notes that if you have Private Space enabled, you might see a “Work Profile” tab in the Wear OS app—even if you don’t have an actual work profile set up on your phone.
As of now, Google hasn’t provided a timeline for a fix, but future Android and Wear OS updates are expected to address these issues. This will help ensure that Private Space notifications and controls remain isolated to your phone only, providing a more secure and private user experience.
