Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to Keep 12GB RAM Base Model, Lagging Behind Competitors
Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to debut with the same memory configurations as its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, sticking with 12GB of RAM for the base model. This move comes as a surprise, especially with the growing emphasis on AI features in smartphones, which typically require more memory for optimal performance.
Memory and Storage Variants: What to Expect
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly come in three memory/storage variants:
- 12GB RAM / 256GB storage
 - 16GB RAM / 512GB storage
 - 16GB RAM / 1TB storage

This marks a continuation of the configurations found in the S24 Ultra, meaning there will be no increase in base RAM.
Google Pixel 9 and OnePlus 13: Competing with Higher RAM
Google’s Pixel 9 series, which also places a heavy focus on AI capabilities, is said to have 16GB of RAM in all variants, leaving the base model with 12GB. Similarly, the upcoming OnePlus 13 is expected to feature models with 16GB or more as the standard, highlighting a shift towards more memory in flagship devices.
Samsung’s RAM Strategy: A Pattern of Stability
This decision follows Samsung’s pattern, as seen with the Galaxy S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra, both offering 8GB and 12GB options. Based on this history, the Galaxy S26 Ultra may see an increase in base RAM, potentially aligning with the AI-driven future of smartphones.
Galaxy S25 Ultra Launch Date
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is expected to be unveiled in late January, continuing the company’s legacy of high-performance “Ultra” smartphones.
